The Origins of Blessed Be

Depending on your perception, it is a worldly definition, whichexplains what Blessed Be means. Every religious and spiritual beliefsystem has a sacred word, or words, that are expressed to others. Evenif you lack belief in anything religious, there is still sanctity tohow as individuals; we interact with others peacefully. The wordblessed is defined as someone of divine grace, highly favored, orfortunate. It also states that “is defined as God or a supreme powerthat is worthy of worship; such as the Blessed Trinity.
In Hinduism, Buddhism, and other Traditional spiritual beliefs BlessedBe is also known as Namaste. Namaste translates as “the Divine withinme, acknowledges the divine being in you”. In Judaism Ps. 118:26 states“Barukh ha-ba, Barukh ha-nimza. This translates to “Blessed Be the onewho comes, Blessed Be the one (already) present.”
One of the many goals of Islam is set forth in the book of Al-Anaam6:120, which states “Fellow Muslims! The greatest goal, whichdetermines, the position of one, before Allah; in this world and thehereafter”.
The act of kindness, doing a service for humanity is the greatest waywe as individuals bridge the gap between people. As humans we show aconviction in our morals, beliefs, and faith. It is a natural functionof being human to interact in a community (society) and help it grow(by working together i.e. - businesses, work, school) when we return toour homes (community) we come together to protect, help, or beneighborly to those we can. But what about those outside of one’severyday community? An act of kindness is stepping outside the realm ofour little world, and venturing off outside of it, and helping whereneeded. Helping others, who we all refer to as strangers, is animportant virtue because it also bridges another mountain from strangerto friend; the more people willing to become friends, who are oncestrangers creates a community of people willing and wanting to takecare of others, and allowing these people to in return take care of usin our time of need.
In biblical times of Jesus there was no such idea called the “goodSamaritan”. At that time the Jewish faith and the Samaritans hated eachother over both political and religious reasons. However, Jesus aSamaritan ironically was the one to show the priests of both sides that“we are each other’s neighbor; therefore God is more interested inshowing mercy rather than maintaining the prejudice”.
Allah said “Allah likes it so much when we help others that He forgivesus our sins for something as simple as moving some thorns out of thepath where people walk.”
New American Standard Bible (©1995)
He said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who hasnot forsaken His loving-kindness and His truth toward my master; as forme, the LORD has guided me in the way to the house of my master'sbrothers."
King James Bible
And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath notleft destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in theway, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.
1 Samuel 25:32 Then David said to Abigail, "Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me
Traditional Pagan Greeting and Departure to someone- “Merry Meet, and Merry Part, and Merry Meet Again! Blessed Be!!!
I had one thought to the name of our small organization that helps somany babies and toddlers, simply stated it does not matter whatspiritual, religious view one has, or even a lack of belief inanything; to say Blessed Be is the “divine spirit in me, acknowledgethe divine spirit in you”.
